January 5, 1889 ‘The Lake Superior News Co. ‘The Lake Superior News Oo. now has control of the news and restaurant aoe onthe entire line of the D., 8. 8. &A.and the managers report a very satisfactory business from’ the start. They are all young men and bustlers after bueiness in every sense of the word. ‘The company now has four eating houses, one at St. Iguace under the charge of J. Gaynor; another at Negaunee~ with A. Cannon in charge; a third et Champion with C. Cannon in control, and the fourth, for the company, at Mar- queite under the direction of Mr. J. E. Lewis, manager of eating houses for the company, who left Thursday for Sault Ste. Marie to sea about opening one in the depot there. ‘Mr. H. Cannon Is maneger of the “eom- pany’s nows agents with headquarters in thiseity. The uniform adopted for the agents is tha finest the reporter has seen in use by anews company. The uniform is of heavy flannel, conductors’ blue, with black braid trimmings and gilt buttons, | while on the collar are the letters “L. S. N. Go.” ‘The cap is the M. H. & O. con- ductor’s cap without the gold band and with the words “News Agent” in gokl on thefront. The company now has sir agents on the road, A. McLfillan, J. Q. have no regular “runs” but the first in. is the first out so thatone day one leaves | Marquette for Duluth and after-his next Teport at headquarters here’ may. strike & St.Jguace train, When through pas- eenger trains are put on between Daluth and St, Ignace in the spring the company will increase its foree of gents.
