T. H. MeGraw & Co.

Not long since the Mining Journal noted the presence in the city
of R. K. Hawley, the well-known Cleveland capitalist, and his some
what mysterious moves while here. Mr. Hawley refused to state what
had brought him up to Marquette in mid-winter, but it is now an-
nounced that the I. H. McGraw & Co., have sold their while pine on
Dead River, purchased from H. C. Thurber, to R. K, Hawley & Co.,
Cleveland. It will take eight years to harvest the crop at the
rate of 20,000,000 feet a year. Hawley & Co., will take it at a
straight price. The logs will be towed to Cleveland. In the coming
spring McGraw & Co., will build a logging railroad to connect their
lumbering operations with the DSS&A, It will be four miles long.
This means that the McGraw & Co., will begin lumbering on an-ex-
tensive scale this spring, an announcement which means much to Mar-
quette.
