Hiawatha Division

Hiawatha Division, No. 240, Order of Railway Conductors, was
instituted in this city last Sunday by H. Hurty,, of Cedar Rap-
ids, Ia., deputy grand chief conductor. Eight visiting members
of the order were present from Delta divison No. 86, of Escan-
aba. The new division starts in with fourteen members and the
following officers, elected and installed last evening: Chief
Conductor, Thomas Holden; assistant Chief Conductor, James G.
Cornell; secretary and treasurer, James R. Lewis; senior Cond-
uctor, Joseph Sheffer; junior Conductor, Charles Sundoerg; in-
side sentinel, Louis Reau; outside sentinel, David Bailey.

The new division has a number of applications for member-
ship already before it anc start off with the most flattering
prospects. Its regular meeting will be held on the second
Sunday of every month at ? pm and on the fourth Sunday at 7 pm.
The conductors are under obligations to general manager Fitch,
who placed at their disposal a special train after their meet-
ing to take the Escanaba visitors and Mr. Hurty up to Negaunee,
Conductor Bailey having the train in charge.
