Source: The Daily Mining Journal, Marquette, MI Saturday, January 9, 1891 Under the wheels Ishpeming - Carl Carlson, employed at the Cleveland mine met with an accident last evening at the Third street crossing. He was walking along the track when engine No. 510, hauling a freight train on the South Shore was approaching. When the engine was just at his side he slipped and his foot caught on the rail. The locomotive passed over it, crushing his heel. He was taken to the Ishpeming hospital. It was thought that amputation will be necessary, as the front of the foot is badly crushed. véssea Ry.
