Fatally Injured

While walking along the track of the DSS&A last Thursday
evening, Carl Strand, an employe of the Cleveland Mining Co.,
was overtaken by a freight engine at the Third street cross-—
ing. He stepped aside to let the cars pass, and in doing so
Slipped and fell, his heel being caught and crushed by the
wheels of the locomotive. The injured man was taken to the
Ishpeming hospital, where death relieved him of his suffer-
ings in a few hours. The severe nervous shock which such
an accident would give a man of somewhat advanced age and low
vitality, was doubtless the immediate cause of death, such in-
juries not being necessarily fatal. .. «
