Business Opening UP

‘he big Dead River mill will begin cutting today for the
season of 1892 fust to get the machinery limbered up and
everything in apple pie order for steady business Monday,
though the season's business will date from today. Every
thing is in splendid shape for the start so there is no
danger of any hitch either in the mill or in the log supply.

Tae log trains will be put on next Tuesday or Wednesday, and
the mill people will hustle logs down from the hoist, deliver-
ing 400,000 feet of logs per day at the mill as long as that
amount can be randled.

The "slump" in the track near the log hoist will be a thing
of the past after today. A new road ved on better ground was
finished yesterday.

Work will be resumed on the ore docks on Monday when a small
crew of men will be placed at work as a starter. The ore will
commence to come down at once and it is expected that the docks
willbe well filled by the time navigation opens.

The starting of the Dead river log train and the resumption
of ore traffic in the same week will make things lively on the
South Shore and will also tend to make things move a little
faster all trrough the city. Marquette's lintle winter nap
is ended and with her mills, docks and stone quarry starting
up comes renewed prosperity.
