This view of the parlor from the front door illustrates the simple lifestyle of farm life. The stove used to heat the room was made in Detroit, Michigan at one time the leader in stove manufacture. The room was simply decorated with Eastlake furniture, an oil lamp and an embroidered sampler on the wall. The wall portraits are Louis Frazho (1818-1893) and Amelia Robertjohn (1817-1890, two pioneer families of St. Clair Shores. The Green family had six children. The parlor may have been kept for Sunday use or visitors and the kitchen was probably the center of activity. This photograph was taken February 13, 1984.
