Inscribed on photo back: 1948 Packard eight deluxe, twenty-second series, model 2211, 8-cylinder, 130-horsepower, 120-inch wheelbase, 6-person club sedan (body type #2265), prototype, note no hood ornament, painted headlight rings, no horizontal trim, Packard archives indicate facelift for Clipper was originally planned for twenty-first series, by 1942 the heavier front end and hidden headlights had appeared on a front end only facelift, this evolved to a more streamlined look with unhidden headlamps by 1944, in 1945 artists retouched a photo of a production 1942 Clipper, using the proposed new lines, around the same time the more elaborate custom eight grille works was emerging, finally came the production prototypes, with completely altered fuselage and flow through fenders.
