View looking southeast, shortly after the 1906 Quinnesec fire
Postcard view taken shortly after the 1906 Quinnesec fire, shows what remained of the community's business district. The two-story building at the left was Buell's Opera House. At the far right was the St. Denis home, one of two buildings which survived the fire visible in this photograph. The other is the white building in the center which was the Catholic rectory. The structure under construction at the corner opposite the opera house was built by John McKenna. Lumber for the construction was delivered Monday, May 21, three days after the fire. A dance was held in the new building on June 11, 1906. 'Quinnesec, Mich., after the fire' is printed on the photograph.
