Deaf Laura Eleanor Draftz Feb. 25, 1914-Feb. 2, 2003 FLAT ROCK — Services have been set for Laura Eleanor Drafiz, 88, of Flat Rock, who died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home’s Flat Rock loca- tion. The Rev. Vern Hinz, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Walitz, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial - Park, Huron Township. Born Feb. 25, 1914, in Huron ' Township, she was the daugh- ter of Zara and Elizabeth (Martin) Felt. She married - John Draftz May 18, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waltz. He died in 1995. A bookkeeper, she worked for Heier Block Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She also worked for several years for former Flat Rock Attorney Fred Hill. Mrs. Draftz, a Flat Rock area resident for more than 60 years, graduated from Flat Rock High School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and its Ladies Auxiliary, for which she sewed cancer pads. She also served as treasurer for the St. John chapter of Aid Association for Lutherans. Surviving are two sons, John Z. (Wanda) of Phoenix and Melvin of Flat Rock; a daugh- ter, Nadine Fritz of Novi; a brother, Erwin of San Diego; five grandchildren, and four ‘ great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Lemuel and Clarence, and a sister, Larena Robson. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Waltz; Martin Luther School in Phoenix, Ariz., or the char- ity of the donor’s choice.
