Lloyd Eugene Drummonds Retired principal was known for sense of humor Lloyd Eugene Drummonds, a former principal for Flat Rock Community Schools, died of a heart attack Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. He was 64. Mr. Drummonds was born on Dee. 27, 1937, in Jackson. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1956 and served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962. Mr. Drum- monds married Gladys Rowe on July 10, 1965, in Midland. a@ > Drummonds He re- ceived a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and a mas- ter’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. He began teaching at what is now Simpson Middle School in Flat Rock in 1966. He later became assistant principal at what is now Flat Rock Community High School. He was’ principal of Simpson from 1970 to 1992, when he retired. For three of those years, he was prin- cipal of Barnes Elementary School at the same time. “He was an excellent administrator, firm but fair, and knew all his students’ names, knew them as _indi- viduals rather than as just a whole group of kids,” his wife said.
