William C. Fischer June 11, 1922-Aug. 9, 1998 LAMBERTVILLE — Services have been set for William C. Fis- cher,.76, of Lambertville, who died at 11:52 p.m. Sunday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. He had been seriously ill . since April. Friends may call from 2 to 9 today at the Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 tonight. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednes- day at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe. The Rev. Anthony Sulkowski, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, under the auspices of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Born June 11, 1922, in Monroe, he was the son of Gustave and Marie (Benoit) Fischer. He mar- ried Betty M. Hoffman on June 13, 1953, in Monroe. He was employed for 30 years by the Ford Motor Co. until retir- ing in 1979. oe He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, from July 14, 1942, until Nov. 11, 1945. He served in Guam and Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe, the Hale Lodge of the Loyal Order of the Moose and Local 723, United Auto Workers. ' Surviving are his wife; a son, James of Woodhaven; a stepson, Larry Rorke of Monroe; a daugh- ter, Mrs. Ronald (Diane M.) Gar- ner of Ida; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Roger, and a sister, Ida Hoffman. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
