TON? herd, ona ATS: va ee we David O. Fleming Jr. FLAT ROCK — David O. Fleming Jr., 75, of Flat Rock died at 1 this morning at Seaway Hos- pital, Trenton. He had been in poor health for several months and seriously ill for four weeks. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sat- urday. The Rev. Evans Bentley of the First United Methodist Church, Flat Rock, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memo- rial Park, Flat Rock. Born April 11, 1920, in Pitts- burgh, Pa., he was the son of David O. Sr. and Hannah M. (Griffith) Fleming. He was mar- ried Jan. 12, 1945, to Gertrude N. Neimeyer at the Fort St. Presby- terian Church, Detroit. They had- have lived in Flat Rock since their marriage and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in January. Mr. Fleming was employed as a printer, retiring from the Detroit Free Press composing room after 10 years in October, 1983. He had served his apprenticeship with Rotary Printing in Detroit. An Army veteran of World War II, he served from Feb. 4, 1942, to Aug. 24, 1945. He served as a B-17 bomber radio operator and flew 32 missions. He was a mem- ber of Mittlestat-Smith Post 337, American Legion, Flat Rock. He also was a life member of Hiram Lodge 110, Free and Accepted Masons, Flat Rock: a member of the Council of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, the Hi-12 Club of Woodhaven and the Flat Rock Rotary Club with 26 years of perfect attendance. An amateur radio operator, his" call letters were WD8DIA. Surviving are his wife; and a sis- ter, Mrs. Lawton (Grace) Ware of Jackson.
