Wed, Mes Pt, Leos Thelmer C. Fowler Nov. 21, 1919-May 23, 2000 FLAT ROCK — Thelmer C. Fowler, 80, of Flat Rock, a Sunday school superintendent for First American Baptist Church, died Tuesday at Oakwood Skilled Nursing Center, Trenton. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. David W. Jones, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carleton, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township, under the aus- pices of Downriver Honor Guard. Born Nov. 21, 1919, in Monroe, he was the son of Elwell and Pearl (Rowelett) Fowler. He married Etta L. Cain Aug. 21, 1940, in Bryan, Ohio. A locomotive crane operator for Great Lakes Steel, Ecorse, he retired in 1985 after 38 years of ser- | vice. He served as an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Force | during World War II. A Flat Rock resident for 46 years, he was a member of Gibraltar Memorial Post 564, American — Legion. Surviving are his wife; a son, Carl T. of Traverse City; two | daughters, Cheryl Kocinski of Sylvania, Ohio, and Susan Tomich | of Rockwood; a brother, Lonnie of | Monroe; two sisters, Ilene Mason of | Pineville, Ky and Francis Nelson of Monroe; six grandchildren, and | five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy. Memorials may be made to Kidney Foundation.
