On June 1, 1946, she married William K. Gee, who served as mayor of Petersburg for 12 years before he died on Dec. 16, 1977. She was employed as a librari- an at the Petersburg Library from 1972 to 1984, where she orga- . hized Friends of the Library, "Petersburg branch, and actively pursued a new library building, which was established in 1979. She served as secretary of the Library Board from 1979 to 1984 and organized the Ladies Auxil- _iary of Summerfield Post 6509, Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a member of the Petersburg Ladies Civic League, Summer- field PTO, Summerfield Athletic Boosters and secretary of the Petersburg Ladies Bowling League. She also wrote weekly columns for the Petersburg Sun, the centennial history for Deer- field’s St. Alphonsus Church in 1964 and the history of Peters- burg for the centennial publica- tion in 1969. She was a 1943 grad- uate of Petersburg High School before attending Cleary Business College. Surviving are three sons, William II, Joseph of Greenville, S.C., and Kenneth of Carleton; three daughters, Rita Selix of Tallahassee, Fla., Kathryn Val- lade of Monroe and Mary Gee of LaSalle; three sisters, Betty Iott of Brooklyn, Ruth Brennan of Nevada, Calif., and Mrs. George (June) Moorman of Ann Arbor; 22 grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Walter, and an infant sister.
