hen): Tena 24 1799 Bessie B. Gesell July 26, 1911-May 23, 1999 Bessie B. Gesell, 87, of Monroe died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday in Mercy Memorial Nursing Care Center, where she had been for 21/2 years. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Earle Little Funeral Home, Bacarella Chapel, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jacque- line Holdsworth, pastor of St. Paul’sUnited Methodist Church, will offi- ciate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, L i LaSalle. BESSIE B. Born July 26, GESELL 1911, in Carleton, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Bernadean (Younglove) Herkimer. She married August C. Gesell Jan. 8, 1932, in Monroe. . He died Oct. 7, 1978. From 1927 to 1939, she was employed by Monroe State Bank and First National Bank. A graduate of Monroe High School, she was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and member of United Methodist Women’s Circle. She © also was a member of MHS Orchestra Parents, Christiancy Elementary School Parent- Teacher Association and the for- mer Monroe Chapter 226, Order of Eastern Star. She was . involved with Campfire, Blue- birds, Rainbow and DeMolay. She was an avid golfer and a member of Greenmeadows. She was a descendant of Gen. Nicholas Herkimer of Herkimer, N.Y. Surviving are a son, Robert W. of Ann Arbor; two daughters, Mrs. John (Sara) Kopmanis of Monroe and Mrs. Art (Beth) Miller of Saline; a sister, Mrs. Kim (Reva).Wilcox.of Monroe; four grandchildren, and a great- granddaughter. - In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a ' daughter, Brenda V. Gesell; two brothers, and a sister. Memorials may be made to Mercy Memorial Nursing Care Center or St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
