Tuesday, December 19, 2000 Tueo. Dec .!4, A000 John E. Gumtow Dec. 23, 1902-Dec. 17, 2000 NEW BOSTON -— John E. Gumtow, 97, of New Boston died Sunday at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center, Monroe. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock. Services will be held at | 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. D. Lee Cullen, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township. Born Dec. 23, 1902, in Huron | Township, he was the son of Emil and Augusta (Block) Gumtow. He married Marcita Schwier June 22, 1929, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She died in 1944. A laborer, he worked for Kaiser- Frazier’s auto paint department. He also worked for Wayne County Road Commission when Waltz Rd. was paved and for Graham-Paige and Willow Run Bomber plant dur- ing World War IL. After retiring, he was a carpenter. He was a member of Local 600, United Auto Workers and St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. |. Surviving are two sisters, Emma Gumtow of New Boston and Anna Jordan.
