AS, 2.4.9) 1495 | Charlotte Gonyea Hertenstein Aug. 14, 1908-Feb. 18, 1998 ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. — Charlotte Gonyea Hertenstein, 89, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Rock- wood, died Wednesday in Mercy Bellbrook Nursing Home, Rochester Hills. She had been ill for a year. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ford Chapel of the Allore-Martenson Funeral Home, Rockwood. Services will begin with prayers at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by Mass at I] a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rockwood. The Rev. Thomas Sauter, the church’s pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Rock- wood. Born Aug. 14, 1908, in Rock- | wood, she was the daughter of Noah and Rose (Roelant) Gonyea. She - married Herbert Hertenstein on Aug. 7, 1934. He preceded her in death on July SOT She worked as an administrative assistant in the accounting depart- ment of S.S. Kresge Co., the Gener- al Telephone Co. of Ohio and Cen- tral Michigan University, from whieh she retired in 1972. She was a'graduate of Flat Rock ~ High School, St. Mary’s College and _Taising drives. ‘the Detroit College of Business. She - belonged to numerous church, civic ~ arid women’s organizations and var- ious parish councils where she served as a lector and Eucharistic | minister. She also was active as a volunteer for Hospice, hospital | _ groups and various charitable fund- Her f memberships included - parent-teacher organizations and Citizens for Decency and Morality | in Media. She also was a past state regent for both the Catholic Daugh- ters of America and the Daughters of Isabella. She held several offices in both organizations over the years _ and also belonged to the National 2uncil of Catholic Women. - Surviving are two sons, H. Charles f Springboro, Ohio, and William J. of Troy, Mich.; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchilren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores E. Ruelle; four brothers, and _ three sisters. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
