Hoffman, 89, of Mio and formerly of Maybee died Sunday morning in Bortz Health Care Facility, Rose City. He had been in ill health since 1991. Friends may call from | to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Liedel Funeral Home, May- bee, where a Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Ser- vices will be at 10 a.m. Wednes- day in the funeral home, followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maybee, with the Rev. Michael D. Malawa, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Ceme- tery, Maybee. Born Aug. 15, 1908, in Exeter Township, he was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Eby) Hoff- man. He married Dorothy Leppek in 1934 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, New Boston, and she died in 1968. He then married Christie Cleland in 1971 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maybee. He was employed as a building contractor for 35 years. He worked as a supervisor for Exeter Township for one term and a building inspector of Berlin Town- ship for 10 years. He retired in 1968. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maybee. and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife; a son. Marvin of Kalamazoo; a sister Hildegarde Burkey of Monroe; six grandchildren, and eight great- grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by si brothers, Vincent, Louis, Otto Joseph, Carl and Henry, and twc sisters, Louise Thoma and Ros« Kaumeyer.
