She had been seriously ill for a month. Michael and Lois Yaeger of Mon- roe, her nephew and his wife, had been her primary caregivers for many years. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the _Rupp Funeral Home, where a Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 9:30.a.m. Satur- day at the funeral home and at Se: es St. Michael’s . Catholic Church. HOFFMAN The Rev. Stephen Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Born April 12, 1903, in Goet- zville, she was the daughter of John and Catherine (Huss) | Thompson. She was married on Oct. 17, 1927, to Walter L: Hoff- man in Monroe. He died Aug. 31, 1964, Mrs. Hoffman moved to Monroe in 1923 from Goetzville and had | been a Monroe County school- teacher. For more than 50 years, she had been a volunteer at Mercy Memo- rial Hospital on patients’ floors | and in the gift shop. She also had been a volunteer for many years with the American Red Cross as a nurse’s aide for blood banks in | Monroe County. For 15 years, she had been a vol- unteer with the Comboni Mission- aries. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church and its Altar Society and a life member of the Monroe County Historical Soci- ety. Surviving are a brother, James Thompson of Sault Sainte Marie, | and. a sister, Madeleine Winston of Westminster, Calif. She also was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. Memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
