zvening News, oun., June 15, 1997 Roland |. Hoffman Sr. Roland I. Hoffman Sr., 81, of Monroe, died at 6 a.m. Saturday in his home. He had been in poor health for four months. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and noon to 9 p.m. Monday in the Rupp Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memo- rial Park, LaSalle. Zz Born Dec. 14, 1915, in Monroe, - he was the son of Irving and. Gladys (Marshall) Hoffman. He married Alice M. Lacure on May | 30, 1936, in Adrian. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1961. He then married Eve Ann (Speyer) — Straub on Oct. 17, 1965, in Las , Vegas, Nev. She preceded him in © death on July 11, 1975. Mr. Hoffman was employed for 34 years at Monroe Auto Equip- . ment, Co.,. where he was an accounting supervisor for 30 years, retiring June 30, 1977. Prior to that, he worked at Consolidat- | ed Paper Co. and after retirement he worked as a PCH tax prac- titioner. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, he was a past member of the church council and an officer. In addition, he was a 1934 gradu- ate of Monroe High School, attended the University of Toledo and was an avid fisherman and golfer. At one time, he played in a band playing big band sounds around the Monroe area. He is survived by two sons, Hoffman Jr. of Monroe and Hoff- man of Vicksburg; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Christine I.) Miller of Monroe; a brother, Gilbert J. Hoff- man of Branch; seven grandchil- dren, and four great grandchildren. In addition to his two wives. be was preceded in death by his par- ents, an infant son Larry and an infant daughter, Jacqueline. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Michigan Heart Association.
