Rockwood’s former police chief dies LAKELAND, Fla. — Services have been set for former Rockwood Police Chief Gerald Lee Norrix, 68, of Lakeland, formerly of Rockwood, who died Sunday at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arthur Home’s_ Flat a chapel, 2 where _ ser- vices will be Onno: LEE held at 11 a.m. R Thursday. The Rev. B.J. Norrix, pastor of Christ Community Church, Baldwinsville, N.Y, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township. Born Feb. 12, 1935, in Flat Rock, he was the’son. of Otis and Fern (Lowry) Norrix. He married Wilma Cox July"12, 1958, in Detroit. He joined Rockwood Police Department in October, 1960, and retired in 1993. He was police chief for 15 years and was the first full-time officer in Rockwood. He served in the Army, 1954- 56, and was a member of Wayne County Chief of Police Association and SPOA Barbershop Quartet. He grad- uated from Flat Rock High School in 1954. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Curtis (Sally) of Dearborn and Kevin (Tammy) of Rockwood; a daughter, Kelly (Michael) Mierzejewski of Fenton; a brother, Robert of Syracuse, N.Y., and five grand- children.
