A Downriver Veterans Honor Guard service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a rosary recited by the Rev. Thomas Sauter, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rockwood, at 8 p.m. Ser- vices will be at 9:30 a.m. Satur- day in the funeral home, followed by Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary > Catholic Church, Rockwood, wit , the Rev. Thomas Sauter officiat- ing. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary ; Cemetery, Rockwood. - Born Nov. 21, 1931, in Rock- wood, he was the son of Lafayette and Caroline (LeFeve) Laginess. He married Marjorie Scharboneau on Aug. 8, 1953, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Trenton. He was a self-employed insur- ance agent for 31 years in his own State Farm Insurance Office in the downriver area before retiring in 1993. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he also served as an usher. He was also a member of the West Shore Country Club, Grosse Ile, for 15 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School and a spon- sor for many youth organizations in the downriver area. He was also an avid bowler and big game hunter. Surviving are his wife; his moth- er, Mrs. Robert (Caroline) Shi- navare of Prudenville, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Wally (Dawn) Doran of Rockwood; a brother, Dale Laginess of East Jordan, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Raymond of Rockwood, Mrs. Alan (Carol) Rigley of Wyandotte, and Mrs. Janet Smith of Wyanotte, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church Restoration Fund.
