Born April 23, tse 1923, in Monroe, pate). he was the son of LAJINESS Verl and Julia (Cousino) Laji- ness. He married Eva Ridner May 17, 1979, in First Presbyter- ian Church by the Rev. Paul Markhaum. He was employed for 30 years as a general maintence employ- ee by Mercy Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1990. He performed repairs and renovations to the hospital’s systems and build- ings. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 47. He served as an_ aviation boatswain’s mate aboard the USS Core and USS Midway. He earned the American Area rib- bon. He attended St. Joseph, St. Patrick and St. John schools. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed camping and woodcutting. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Larry G. Pierce and Daniel L. Pierce, both of Monroe; a sis- ter, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) McBride of Monroe; six grand- children, and a great-grand- child. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sis- ter.
