Ernest Everett Bogue
Ernest Everett Bogue was born on January 12, 1864 in East Orwell, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture and Forestry and a Master of Science degree in Entomology and Botany from Ohio State University in 1984 and 1986 respectively. Before attaining a Master of Arts degree from Harvard in 1902, Bogue spent his interim years as head of the department of Botany and Entomology of the State Agricultural College in Oklahoma. Upon completing his master’s degree, Bogue accepted the new position of chair of Forestry at Michigan Agricultural College in September of 1902. Bogue was popular with students and his classes were regularly filled due to his “skill, originality, ingenuity, and genial personality.” Bogue’s career was cut short due to illness on August 18, 1907.
