Alvin Leonard Storrs
Alvin Leonard Storrs was a highly-respected member of the MSU College of Law faculty from 1987 to 2009. He was chair of the taxation law concentration program and proudly served as faculty advisor to the Black Law Students Association. Storrs taught basic income taxation, corporate income taxation, and deferred and executive compensation at the Law College. A trusted and effective faculty leader, Storrs served as chair of the Dean Search Committee in 2007-08 and chair of the Faculty Appointments Committee in 2008-09. In addition to his countless former students, his legacy at the Law College includes the hundreds of low-income clients who have been served by the Law College's Tax Clinic, started with funding obtained by Professor Storrs. He earned a B.A. from Mercy College in 1973; an M.B.A. from the University of Detroit in 1981; a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1982; and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University in 1984. Storrs passed away on April 26, 2010.
