Anil K. Jain
Anil K. Jain is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Michigan State University. He received his B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1969 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Ohio State University in 1970 and 1973 respectively. His research interests include pattern recognition, computer vision and biometric recognition. His articles on biometrics have appeared in some of the fields top journals. He has received a number of awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, Humboldt Research Award, Fulbright Fellowship, IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award, and the MSU Withrow Teaching Excellence Award for contributions to pattern recognition and biometrics. He has been listed among the "18 Indian Minds Who are Doing Cutting Edge Work" in the fields of science and technology and received the 2014 Innovator of the Year Award at MSU. Jain has been assigned six U.S. patents on fingerprint matching (transferred to IBM in 1999) and two Korean patents on surveillance. The Institute for Scientific Information has designated him as a highly cited researcher with more than 108,000 citations stemming from his works.
