Mary Mouat Abbot, born on the MAC campus in 1863, was the daughter of MAC President T.C. Abbot and served as librarian at MAC from 1888 to 1889. She was one of the earliest staff members at the college. She died in 1903 from the effects of anesthetics administered for a slight surgical operation.
