The July meeting was held at the New Bedford Country Club, North Dartmouth, Mass. with members and their guests who have qualifications to become a member of the club. The hospitality shown by the club received a vote of thanks from the members and was sure appreciated. The beer, clams, and prizes were donated by the members of the New Bedford Country Club. Willy's of Worcester, Inc. gave a demonstration of the jeep in the morning. This jeep was put to the test by going over hills pulling a five gang unit and its performance was good. A luncheon was served which followed with a short business meeting. President Homer Darling presided. Two new members were voted in—Edward J. Buecher, R.F.D. No. 2, Box 111 Bedford, N. H.; David Regan, Jr., 784 Washington St., Walpole, Mass. Also Guilford R. Johnson of Reservation Golf Club, Wantamist, R. I. rejoined the club. A golf tournament was held. It was windy, but still the boys played fairly good. Results of the regular monthly tournament were: 1st net N. MURPHY, 2nd net H. Mosher, 3rd net A. Finney. ' A special tournament of members and guests for prizes that were donated by the members of the New Bedford Country Club was held. Longest distance a member traveled, Jack Counsell, 81 miles. Oldest member present, Ed Ohlson, 69 years old. Highest gross, Steve Hannon Most sixes, S. Braio Most fives, R. T. Thomas Most bogeys, M. Ognedy Selected 10 holes, H. Darling Blind bogey, J. Butler A special door prize, a pair of nylon hose, donated by N. J. Sperandio, was won by Steve Hannon. A correction in the Newsletter of the June edition. 2-4-D is used instead of D.D.T. in the killing of weeds. D.D.T. is an insecticide. P. I. Cassidy is now back in Greenkeeping. He is now located at the Weston Golf Club, Weston, Mass, Congratulations, Phil, and here is wishing you the best of luck. Be a valuable member to the club in making it your duty to increase the Club's membership. Interest your neighborhood club Greenkeeper to come to the next meeting if not a member of the Club. More members, more ideas, and in general a greater knowledge would result, which would benefit all. The next meeting will be held Monday, August 5, 1946. There will be a demonstration of the Trav EL-awn Sprinkler at 11 a.m. Luncheon will be served at 12 noon. Manuel Francis, Greenkeeper, as host. This meeting will be a member guest day.
