The annual chairmen and greenkeepers meeting was held at the Charles River Country Club, West Newton, Mass. It proved to be one of the most successful meetings in many years, due to the large turn out of chairmen. In the morning a working demonstration of the Terferator and Aerifier was performed by The Clapper Co. of West Newton, Mass. The members and greens chairmen were given the opportunity to inspect the equipment and the type of work it performed. At 12 noon luncheon was served, this was given by Mr. O. Clapper, of the Clapper Co. and appreciated by all present. A business meeting was held. Norman S. Barnes, of Kernwood Country Club, was voted in as an associate member. Nineteen teams got under way for the golf tournament of chairmen and greenkeepers. Winners: 1st — W. Mitchell Charles River Country Club Beatie 78-19-59 2nd, 3rd — tied A. Anderson Brae Burn Country Club Baldwin Beucher Manchester Country Club Hartford 79-18-61 4th — Allen Kernwood Country Club 92-16-76 Farrant The Country Club 97-21-76 The annual greenkeepers' Field Day sponsored by the Rhode Island State College, Kingston, R. I. will be held September 9th. This meeting is open to all interested in turf problems. Here is an opportunity to talk over your turf problems, also how they are met with present day methods. The following information was received after our club had voted to hold a joint meeting with the R. I. Greenkeepers Club on September 15. The annual G.S.A. golf tournament and field day will be held at Penn. State College on September 15th and 16th. Golf will be played on the above dates with turf clinic activities scheduled for the afternoons. Two noon day luncheons are planned. Housing is assured at local Hotels and on the College campus. The board of Directors of the G.S.A. ha^ alloted $500.00 for prize money that will be distributed in the form of appropriate merchandise. A $5.00 entry fee will be charged, the income will be used to repay the G.S.A. in part for the $500.00 prize fund. Each district is urged to send as many Greenkeepers as possible to this meeting. The turf clinic is as important as the tournament, there will be a team championship (the four low scores make up the team). Non G.S.A. members are welcome for guest play and field day activities. A joint meeting with the Rhode Island greenkeepers is planned for September 15th, at the Metacomet Golf Club, East Providence, R. I. The days program is being planned by the R. I. Greenkeepers. At the time of going to press we had not received the program, so we urge all our members to arrive as early as possible. Lets repeat the good attendance we had at our last meeting. Editor — A. J.
