JULY — 1948 Members journeyed to the Nashua Country Club, in the State of New Hampshire, for their June meeting. The attendance was very good, considering the rainy day. A demonstration was held of the Vat Pressure Tank Sprayer, by Mr. Donald Sweenie, sales representative for the 0. E. Linck Co., Inc., Clifton, N. J. This sprayer is operated by a C02 tank, connected to another nine (9) gallon tank containing the desired solution. Various size nozzles can be used on this sprayer, the tank maneuvers easily and is operated solely by one man. You can purchase this sprayer, from the Clapper Co., at a cost of approximately $100.00. A fine dinner and beverages were served by the Club. The business meeting was called to order by President Philip I. Cassidy. Routine business was acted upon. A letter from Jack Counsell, who is recovering slowly from his serious illness, was read. It was good hearing from Jack, but better still will be Jack's presence once again at our regular meeting. A letter was also read from Harold Mosher, thanking the club for the gift which he and his wife received, on their twentyfifth wedding anniversary. The following were elected members of the Greenkeeper Club of New England: Ernest E. Ruby, Portland C. C., Falmouth Foreside, Maine, and Walter C. Bore, Riverside Golf Course, Portland, Maine. The applications of William Ash, Franklin C. C., Franklin, Mass., and Howard E. Hills, Haverhill C. C., Haverhill, Mass., were read and are to be voted on at the next regular meeting. S&. A contribution of ten dollars ($10.00) was voted to the Jimmy Fund. Announcement was made of the cost and a suggested itinerary was distributed among the members covering the 1949 National Greenlkeeping Superintendents Convention, to be held at Los Angeles, California. A golf tournament was held in the afternoon, with seven members participating. The prevailing weather did not alter their determination to play, if only nine holes, as was the case. Prizes were donated by the Nashua C. C. and winners were as follows: 1st—A. J. Sperandio 43-7-86, 2nd and 3rd—N. J. Sperandio 43-6-37, and R. Thomas 44-7-37, 4th—A. E. Anderson 47-9-39.
