as Greenkeepers Club of New England NEWSLETTER JANUARY, 1950 •X9 The December meeting of the Greenkeepers Club of New England was held Monday, December 5th, at the Hotel Bradford in Boston. There were thirty-six present. Chet Sawtelle of the Sawtelle Bros. Mower Mart showed a brief picture on a snow removing machine suitable for use on hockey rinks, drives and walks. Breck's and the Clapper Company were also represented. This last meeting of 1949 was a memorable one as we had as guests the President and Secretary of the National Greenkeeping Superintendents Asso. Carl Bretzlaff, President of the National, spoke briefly and extended the greetings of the National Association. Agar Brown, Secretary of the National, gave a detailed talk on the functions of the National Greenkeeping Superintendents Asso. and the National Turf Conference and answered innumerable questions for the local committee chairmen in regard to the proper procedure to be taken by their committees in mapping programs for the National Turf Conference in Boston, February 6 to 10, 1950. Great interest was shown by those present in the qualifications for membership in the National Asso. Quite a few members filled out applications and submitted them to the National Secretary during the meeting. Enclosed for your convenience is an application blank for membership in the National Greenkeeping Supts. Asso. If you wish to join, bring it to the next meeting and its advantages will be explained to you. The National Turf Conference committees have been working hard on the program to be carried out in February and the advance details show that this is a program that no one interested in the maintenance of turf can afford to miss. You should see to it that your Greens Chairman or Club Manager or both are aware of the importance of this Conference and that they too are invited to attend Here you will see the latest in equipment for turf maintenance as well as hearing the answers in plain English to your technical turf problems. Here as well as Canada and several foreign countries. you will meet greenkeepers from the 48 states Your problem might be theirs, you might, in talking, find the answer to both your problems. One such incident might make the Conference a success for everyone. One germ of an idea planted in an active greenkeepers mind might lead to the answer to any one of a hundred problems applicable to the entire turf maintenance profession. DON'T MISS IT!
