WSLETTER The February meeting of the Greenkeepers Club of N. E. was held at the Hotel Bradford in Boston, Monday, January 30. Francis Malone, Greenkeeper at the Blue Hill Country Club was elected an associate member. James Morrison, chairman of the Convention Bureau of the Boston Chamber of Commerce spoke on some of the registration details he would handle for the National Turf Conference and Show, February 6 to 10, at the Hotel Statler in Boston. Committees reported on progress of the show and later developments proved their confidence justified. Nov/ to the National Turf Conference and Show! Before naming the highlights of the Conference if you would like a copy of the educational talks send your request to A. M. Brown, P.O. Box 106, St. Charles, Illinois. This book will cost $2.00 and will take about seven to eight weeks to reach you. The Educational program was well balanced and received fine support. The Equipment show was admittedly the best in 21 years of the show and its success was due to the generous support of local exhibitors. (We should support them whenever possible during the season.) The visiting ladies were enthusiastic in their praise of the program offered them. The visits to historic spots were a real treat to people from out of town. Our Wednesday evening Dinner and Show was well attended and a bright spot on the program. Valuable publicity was received from the Press. In short, this the 21st National Turf Conference and Show was a success and will be used as a yard-stick in setting the standards of future shows. In case you have forgotten who the local chairmen were, please remember the following and give them a pat on the back for a job well done: Horner Darling, Educational; Frank Wilson, Arthur Anderson, Local Exhibits; A. J. Sperandio, Ladies Entertainment; Howard Farrant, Entertainment; Samuel S. Mitchell, Harold Mosher, Publicity; William F. Mitchell, Arthur Cody, Elmer Fuller, Welcoming; Theodore Swanson, Transportation; Manuel Francis, Wm. McBride, Booth. Remember the untiring efforts of our Secretary, Narry Sperandio and the cooperation of our Treasurer, Jack Counsell. Yes, we can be proud of our efforts but let's keep going in the same direction by contacting eligible greenkeepers for membership in the Greenkeepers Club of New England. Our present representation in the National Greenkeeping Supts. Association is 411. The March meeting will be held, Monday, March 6, at the Hotel Bradford in Boston at 1:30 P.M.
