The Annual meeting was held at the Waltham Field Station with Mr. Clark Hodder, President of the Massachusetts Golfers Association, guest speaker. A most informal and interesting talk was enjoyed by all present. Homer Darling, "NEWSLETTER", editor, is in Florida taking* a well earned rest, Sime Briaio, and Guy Tedeseo, wrote and said they are playing golf everyday in Florida. John Dombek golf handicapper take note. Arthur Anderson, was awarded a 25 year pin for continuous membership in good standing. Arthur has done a tremendous amount of unselfish work for the Club. In view of the fact that he was a hard working official delegate to the National Turf Conference and Show, the previous several years, in 1951 the club voted to pay his expenses, however, he expressed sincere appreciation and refused. Arthur Anderson is again the official delegate to the National Turf Conference and Show which is to be at Atlantic City, N.J. from February 8 to 13. Please be sure you have mailed your signed proxy vote -to Arthur at 358 Fuller St., West Newton, Mass. It was good to see Gill and Buecher, from way up N.H. Dombek, from western Mass. Paul O'Leary Tomeo, Fuller, and Brigham, from way down R.I. Mike O'Grady, and M. Brown, both of New Bedford. These are some of the boys that drive a long distance in the winter time, to attend meetings. Once again, Joe Looney, of the Boston Herald, has given the Greenkeepers and Golf an excellent bit of publicity. Be good to Joe, he is good to golf. The Clapper Co. again spends to publicize the Greenkeeper and his National Turf Conference and Show by sending out a special mailing of 1500 National Convention stickers. Club member Albert Allen, Greenkeeper at Kernwood, Welfare Committee Chairman, and Vice President, is assisting as an instructor at the University of Massachusetts Winter School of Greenkeeping, the pioneer of Greenkeeping Schools, Professor Lawrence S. Dickinson. The applications for membership of C. W. Parker, Agawam Hunt Club, "who is back in this area again", and Ralph Roberts, of the Hatherly Country Club, were read and will be voted on at the next regular meeting.
