GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT'S ASSOCIATION OF NEW ENGLAND N E W S L E T T E R JANUARY T h e Annual Meeting and dinner dance of die Association was a huge success. A very rainy evening failed to halt the attendance of 90 congenial members, their wives and guests. T h e fine food, music, and entertainment promoted a very festive spirit and many unlimbered long enough to show they could still teach some of the youngsters how to waltz and fox trot. T h e ladies' presence in all their finery made the occasion a memorable one. Door prizes for the ladies went to the following: Mrs. John Brock, Mrs. Ned Curran, Mrs. Pat Tameo, Miss Terry DiToro, and Mrs. Paul O'Leary. At the business meeting the following slate of officers was elected for the 1956 season: President Michael J. O'Grady 1st Vice-President Manuel Francis 2nd Vice-President Albert Allen 3rd Vice-President N. J. Sperandio Secretary William Ash Treasurer Arthur Cody Educational Committee Chairman Ray Brigham Golf Committee Chairman Joseph Butler Auditors George Rommell John Kielty Trustee — 3 years Daniel Silva T h e application for associate membership of Walter C. Greus was read and tabled until next meeting. Our worthy Editor is enjoying a short vacation in Florida and writes that it is so cold down there that he has been unable to get any inspira- 1956 tion for some suitable "land of sunshine" poetry. This explains the absence of some appropriate verse in this issue. No doubt Homer is thinking of a poem that, if memory serves me correctly, contains the lines, "Oh, it's home again, home again for me." Tony Sperandio, Chairman of the Educational Committee submits the following program for the February meeting.
