I am sure that this statement was made by some one like our Educational Chairman, Ray Brigham, when only 33 showed up for our Annual Dealer meeting, especially after estimating 60 for lunch. Anyway we missed you and you missed a fine lunch and reports on activities and talks of the National Turf Conference at Washington. Door prizes were won by Guy Tedesco, Lucien Duval and Tony Sperandio. Ross Sawtelle of Sawtelle Brothers, Gene Cronin and Dick Finerty of the Clapper Company, Ralph Reynolds of the International Chemical Company, Tony Sperandio of the Garden Center,, Aubrey Clapper of the T u r f Equipment Company and Phil Noyes of the Hubbard and Hall Chemical Company spoke briefly of their products and prices. They all agreed that prices seemed reasonably stable and urged that orders be placed early to help them and ourselves in having material available when needed. increasing our representation in the National Association before that time. There is serious concern by Superintendents on the use of the deeply corrugated saw-tooth type rubber soled shoes used by an increasing number of golfers. They have no place on the golf course it is felt. T h e Committee has contacted Alexander M. Radko, Eastern Director of the U. S. Golf Association for suggestions or a possible ruling banning this type of footwear from putting greens in particular. Mr. Radko has forwarded our comments to Joe Dey for consideration. Our March meeting will start with lunch at 12:30 noon, Monday, March 3, 1958 at the Waltham Field Station. An engineer from the Briggs and Stratton Company will answer pertinent questions concerning the light weight engines now in use. T h e International Chemical Company will present a film showing the mining of phosphate in Florida and the mining of potash in New Mexico. Tony Sperandio will show a composite film of some of our past outdoor meetings. This is a chance to look back and think ahead. All dealers are invited to attend the March meeting. Don't forget the Spring Turf Conference at the University of Massachusetts, March 6 and 7.
