GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENTS A S S O C I A T I O N OF NEW ENGLAND Newsletter September, 1959 The August meeting of the Association was held Monday, August 3rd at Kearsarge Valley C. C., North Sutton, N, H, There were 35 present. This is the home of Bill Mitchell and his turf enterprise. Bill, his wife and family were perfect hosts; serving a fine buffet at noon with appropriate beverages. The Turf nurseries were of genuine interest and show that Bill knows his product, Weatherwise the day was fine for golf but it was very apparent that this section of New Hampshire was experiencing a severe drought, Kearsarge Valley C. G, is at present a nine hole course with another nine under construction and will in the near future be an 18 hole championship course. The winners of a Blind Bogey tournament, with 20 participatings werej 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Phil Mitchell Robert Mucciaroni Ernest Wolfgang Narry Sperandio Paul O'Leary The September meeting will be held Monday lU-th at the Sherwood-atNatick Grolf Club, There will be a straight handicap tournament. Players may start at anytime as long as they sign up at the Golf Shop before starting. The business meeting will be held at k p.m. At 5 p.m. there will be a catered barbecue held out of doors weather permitting. In any event there will be a barbecue at 5 p.m. Ernest Wolfgang host Superintendent says guests will be allowed. As this is a catered barbecue and a definite committment must be made,you are requested to send in the return cards for your reservations. We know that it is only natural to forget the cards so why not fill it out as soon as you get it and drop it in the mail. We all join in wishing a speedy recovery to John Latvis and Semi Braio who have missed a lot of "ideal" growing conditions for disease, crabgrass and zinnias. See you at Natickl Philip I.
