The third application is applied with enough Milorganite or sand to cover the green. The application is made with a Cyclone spreader on wheels, applied after the January thaw. If the winter is open and winds severe, we spray a wetting agent (Aqua-Gro) to greens. T h i 3 has been done for the past three years and no damage to greens from desication or snow mold are the results. Snow is also removed, if melting paths are made across greens to take adantage of surface drainage, thus a minimum amount of ice or water remains on the greens. I might add that our greens are closed to play during the winter as we feel that the entire membership should not be responsible for the damage done by 5% of the members who would play on greens during the winter. Did you know that our attendance at Waltham has been steadily dropping? What can we do about it? How about some creative criticism. "Neither praise nor blame is the object of true criticism, - Justly to discriminate, firmly to establish, wisely to prescribe, and honestly to award, these are the true aims and duties of criticism" Simms The editor - Dick Blake
