Arthur Anderson reported that the John Shanahan Memorial has been played at Bra Burn since 1935 except for two years when it was omitted. Ed Boucher, Supt. at Manchester C» C., New Hampshire, is reported to be in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Manchester recovering from a broken leg. (b) A member shall be deemed to have violated the Code of Ethics by: 1. Acting and speaking in a manner which could cause discredit to the profession. 2. Abusing the privilege of playing golf at any of the member clubs by bringing uninvited guests or failing to make his presence known to the home superintendent when visiting a club, 3. Applying for a position without the definite knowledge of its vacancy. 4. Expressing opinions to, or visiting with, Golf Club officials or members in regard to maintainance practices without the express permission and knowledge of the Superintendent of the Club in question whether a member of this Association or not. * * * MAINTENANCE COSTS UP 3.4% IN 1960-61 Golf course maintenance costs were 3.4% greater in 1960-61 than in 1959-60 according to the latest survey compiled by the accounting and auditing firm of Harris, Kerr, Forster & Company. The firm, which basis its studies on 50 clubs scattered throughout the country, says that the maintenance cost per hole is now $3,059. Last year's figure was $2,958. Over the past ten years, the costs per hole have risen from $1,967 to the current figure -- an increase of 567<,, Salaries and wages, the largest item in the maintenance breakdown, increased 2.8% over last year to a per hole average of $2,021. All other expenses are listed a s $1,038 per hole. The costs in the Far West by far exceed those in any other section of the country.
