This unit i,s equipped with 18HP Engine and has a low speed gear box giving the truckster a total of six speeds forward - the highest being 19 MPH. Because of the low speed gear box, the Cushman has a very high pulling capacity and maintains a constant speed on and down hills, which is very essential when it is used for spraying fairways, greens, tees etc. The truckster iis equipped with a power-take-off and a tackometer, which is used to run both a Cyclone Spreader and a Sprayer. Frank believes that the Cushman Turf Truckster when equipped with these tools will save the golf course many hours of labor, in fact he is sure that the truckster will pay for itself in less than two years of operation. With these two new attachments, the Supt. has a tool which quickly and efficiently can be used to spray and fertilizer greens, tees, approaches etc. The potentials of this machine are unlimited and during the next three or four years other attachments will be available, such as power top dressers, aerifiers etc., that will greatly reduce the labor problems found on the modern golf course. GOLF ACCIDENTS A study of golf accidents has shown that there were more than 18,000 disabling accidents of all types on golf courses during 1962, compared with 15,000 for 1961. The survey also revealed that 10,000 person^ were struck by golf balls and that another nine percent of the injuries were caused by swinging clubs. Heat prostration felled 10 per cent and overexertion disabled seven per cent. Golf car accidents produced another seven per cent and the growing popularity of these vehicles and recklessness of their drivers may result in a sharp upturn in golf mishaps. P.G.A.
