l a r g e m u r a l of a s e a s i d e golf c o u r s e on C a p e C o d . In
the f o r e g r o u n d , a c o n t o u r e d six hole putting g r e e n gave
added effect.
A synthetic nylon g r a s s with a rubber base was
u s e d , b e c a u s e f r o m p a s t e x p e r i e n c e , live turf could
not handle the heavy t r a f f i c for a n i n e - d a y exhibit,
such a s this one w a s , and a l s o , the turf would a f t e r a
s h o r t d u r a t i o n give u n p l e a s a n t o d o r s .
This synthetic grass made putting almost realistic,
h o w e v e r , putting against the grain . . . m u c h s l o w e r .
The New England G o v e r n o r s and their f a m i l i e s had
a p r i v a t e s h o w i n g of t h e e x h i b i t o n S u n d a y , S e p t e m b e r
