TURF CLIPPINGS NJGCSA Happenings: Well it was a delightful day at the track. We had a few DD winners which brought a few victory screams from Mort Hansen and Roy Bossolt. Ben was busy running around as usual and didn’t have any hot tips as he hadn’t checked out with the horses that morning. The eighth race was run for our group on the turf. Oh-you haven’t seen a divot until you see one that the horses make when running on the turf. After the track we had a nice turnout at Old Orchard Country Club. We had cocktails and hors dOeuvres, which was followed by dinner. We had the use of the new fairway dining room which overlooks the golf course. Jim Murphy had the course looking in good condition. The play is very heavy as was evident by the golf ers coming in until dark. Yes, it was a nice outing for the wives too and I am sure everyone forgot about the golf course for a few hours. Ken Morrison is resting at home after an operation on his foot to remove a small bone. Danny Galasso is improving each day. We regret the passing of Barney Roth. He was a life member, having joined the NJGCSA in 1928. So you can see he was a man dedicated to the NJGCSA. Picatinny Arsenal Meeting: Mike George our host has a full day planned for us. It should be very interesting. Please return your cards and indicate on it the events you will attend. Especially for the bus tour in the morning.
