TURF CLIPPINGS NJGCSA Championship Golf Tournament & Meeting: On October 27th we had our annual Superintendents Golf Championship at Suburban Golf Club. Jack Martin our host did a wonderful job. The golf course was in excellent shape and we had a nice calm warm October day which topped it off. We had a nice turnout. Jolly Charlie McCrea boomed in with top Honors and took the Championship trophy home. John Ujobagy was a close second. Bob Bobbie came home with the bacon in the Commercial class. We had a super delicious steak dinner which was followed by a very informative talk on Trees and tree care around a golf course by Warren Timpkey from the Bartlett Tree Co. After the speaker many had their bull sessions into the wee hours of the morning talking about the summer of 66 and the rains of September. It certainly climaxed the golf season with a great meeting and excellent golf participation. NJGCSA Happenings: Well, as you already know there have been quite a few moves by several of our members. Al Rathjens Jr. is headed for Raritan Valley, Charlie McCrea is headed for Long Island. It should give island boys something to contend with in their Superintendents Championship. Marty Futyma is headed for Glen Ridge, Skippy Cameron will be at Mountain Ridge December 1. Just can’t keep up with all the moving action. We wish everybody good luck in their new environments. Many times a change does everyone who is concerned a new shot in the arm. Ken Morrison headed for the Bahamas for a week later in the month. Sabby De Falco is getting the red carpet out for the Christmas Party, Please return your invitations promptly. Red Williams is the chairman of our Annual Christmas Party. It should be alot of fun so everybody set aside December 3rd for an enjoyable evening with your wife or for the single Supers bring the girl friend. We would also like more response from clubs who would like to have a meeting at their club next year. We want to get a full schedule set-up now. If you don’t know at the moment, then bring offer your club at the Annual meeting. Speaking of the Annual meeting and elections we would like to have a big turnout. Its the time to express yourself in the association, cast your vote for your canidate and give ideas on how we can improve our association, our meetings, our field days, our golf tournaments. Lets all try to help our Association and the best way is by participating. So see you all on the 8th of December. All commercial members are invited to attend the meeting. Yours for Better Turf Garry Crothers, Charlie McCrea
