t President’s Message The opportunity is here to thank Bob Aube and his staff at Alpena Golf Club for hosting the NMTMA July meeting. These meetings always provide us with some educational format, whether it is the guest speaker or the experiences we share with other members. Even though it is mid-summer, I hope we all take advantage of these meetings. Outside the educational opportunities, these meetings provide a welcome relief from the everyday golf course worries. It is always a worthwhile endeavor to see what and how other superintendents are doing things. Besides, it gives your right hand person the opportunity to show what they can do in your absence. Our 25th Anniversary is being celebrated on the 13th of August, at the Rose in Leroy. This is something to be proud of, especially if you’re a charter or long time member. The fellowship with the NMTMA and the insight that these people have provided has given this organization great strength and cohesiveness. It’s not too early to be thinking about our annual meeting. If you have an inclination to run for the Board of Directors, please let me know. Working on the NMTMA board has always been a great pleasure and rewarding experience. This allows anyone exposure to the industry as a whole. It can be an eye opener if you’ve never had the opportunity. On a personal note, Bruce Wolfrom, CGCS and Golf Course Manager at Treetops for the past six plus years just recently left. Bruce is now at his own course, White Pine National, Spruce, MI full time. His foresight, inspiration and leadership will be missed here at Treetops. I wish you well Bruce, thanks for the education and experience. Mark R. Wildeman, C.G.C.S.
