A real brief letter to bring you members up to date that had not attended
our recent meeting at Michawye Hills Golf Club on October 9th, This
meeting was very well attended and we had forty six persons present
plus two fine speakers that brought us information which cannot be
contained in a letter.
Your Association has Just donated $100.00 to Michigan Turfgrass Foundation
and we have received a very nice thank you from Dr, Paul E. Rieke, professor
of Soil Science. M.S.U.
In addition, the Board of Directors have approved a donation of fifty
dollars to the G.C.S.A. Scholorship and Research Fund. This money is
used for schlorships for students at various turfgrass schools studying
to become future superintendents.
The above listed officers have again been relected to the same offices
for 1974 and promise to try harder to make our Association more successful.
To do so, we all need the cooperation of all members.
We have a special party scheduled for October 27th, to be held at Shanty
Creek Lodge, Bellaire, Michigan. This is our annual party for the gals
and a cocktail party will start at 6:30 P. M. for one hour or until 7:30
P.M. Then for dinner which will be held in the Timkin Room, we will have
a menu featuring Queen Cut Prime Rib with desert included at a cost of
$15.50 per couple including tax and tip.
In our recent letter we stated that dead line would be October 9th, to
have your check in with Frank Heminger or members of the committee however
our response was so over whelming that we now made definite our confirmation
with Shanty Creek Lodge and can take anyone else that would like to attend
as long as we have your check in advance by October 26th. So —— if you
had not made up your mind by October 9th and would like to be with us, then
get busy right now before it is too late.
For anyone that would like to spend the night at Shanty Creek Lodge, we
have checked with reservations there and their rates per day are $20.00
which is comparable with a motel in our north resort country. To make
reservations, please phone area 616-533-8621 and ask for reservations.
It is our understanding that a few are also expecting to play golf there
before the party.
One more reminder about the application that was mailed to you telling
you that 1974 dues are now payable. We are bringing out a new membership
booklet and unless you send in your application form with changes of
name spelling, changes of address, changes of club affiliation, then the
new roster will reflect the exact name as now listed in our present
membership roster. We have also asked for the name of your wife, we would
appreciate your including her name as we would like to Incorporate that
 too especially since we do have our social party each fall after our
regular neetings.
Your educational committee would appreciate hearing from corporation
members that have speakers that would like to participate in our 1974
