Everyone in Northern Michigan should know where it is located 30 please come. Better than that, bring along a prospective member, someone that you know that should be in our organization and who may not be because you did not invite him. If you tell us of someone that should be invited, we will be most happy to write them a letter of invitation. Think about it. Ed Karcheski is the genial vice president and h&st extends to all wishing to play golf, an invitation to do so. Many of you would like to have lunch at the club house and it is available. Again we would like to schedule your starting golf so that you will be available for dinner to start promptly at 6:b-5 P.M. Anyone coming specifically for the meeting, please arrange your travel so that you are there to coincide with dinner. If you play golf, please get out a buck for participation in the golf package offered by our golf Chairman, "Chuck" Johnson. We have some sad news to impart in that Dr. Jim Beard is definitely leaving Michigan State University. Efforts to inspire his superiors to encourage him to stay have failed. Along with the members of The Michigan Turfgrass Foundation, we of N.M.T.M.A. are sincerely grateful for his dedicated service, the professional knowledge and guidance he has given to all of us in the turf industry. As you all know, the experimental plots at Traverse City is one of his babies established just over ten years ago. It would be nice if he could spare the time before departure for Texas and drop in at our meeting on May lUth. We know he has a very busy schedule and certainly hate to see him go however we wish the Beards the greatest success for the future. In Northern Michigan, the "welcome" mat will always be out. Our speaker for this meeting will be Robert Moore. Mr. Bob Moore is better known as Mr. Aqua Gro and he will give U3 a lot of background on wetting agents and how they can help us with our problems on the golf courses. He has been a manufacturer ofthese chemicals for many years plus done extensive experimental work with many universities throughout the country. June 2hth, 1975, will be Michigan Turfgrass Field Day, Crop Science Field Lab, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. If there are any questions, please contact Mr. Jeffrey V. Krans, Turfgrass Extension Associate, Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, Michigan State University, E. Lansing, Mi. H882U. 197^ Field Day was held at the experimental plots at Traverse City on Sep. 10th. We are enclosing for your information and thinking, an article from the May issue of the USGA Green Section Record. It is a very thought provoking article, we don’t make any recommendations however some feel that it might have some merit in case you would like to experiment. As usual we must know how many will be present at The Traverse City Country Club for dinner. We are enclosing the usual self addressed card for your convenience so please complete it as soon as you finish this letter and return it in the mail. We do not want to cause any of our host superintendents embarrasment in 1975 so please give us your reply NOW. Again, please bring along someone that should be a member of our association.
