Session

MINUTES  OF THE  MEETING
OF  THE
MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES

June 8, 1995

A .Committee of the Whole Work Session to discuss the Guidelines for the Development
of 1995-96 Budgets was held in the Board Room of the Administration Building.

Following the work session, President MePherson called the meeting of the Board of
Trustees to order at 3:50 p.m.

Trustees present:  Dolores M. Cook, Dorothy  Gonzales, Russell G. Mawby, Colleen
McNamara., Donald Nugent, John D, Shingleton, Bob Traxler, and Robert E. Weiss/

University officers present:  President MePherson/ Provost Simon, Secretary Hesse,
and Vice President Wilkinson,  Faculty Liaison and Student Liaison members were also
present.

1.  On a motion by Dr. Mawby, supported by Ms. Cook, THE BOARD VOTED to approve the

agenda.

2.  There were no requests for public participation.

3*  President MePherson announced that a request had been received for the Board
of  Trustees to meet in an Executive  Session to consult with its attorney
regarding trial and settlement strategy in connection with specific pending
litigation and to consider material  exempt  from public disclosure by State
statute.  The session was closed under Sections 8(e) and 8{h) of the Michigan
Open Meetings Act.

On a motion by Mr. Nugent, supported by Mr. Weiss, A ROLL CALL VOTE of the
Board was conducted by Secretary Hesse,  The vote was unanimous.

4.  The meeting adjourned for an Executive Session at 3:55 p.m.
