OP THE 8TAEE BOARD OP AGRICULTURE President's Office• December 8* 2:30 P* M Present, President Kedzie, Messrs* Beaiunont, Doherty, Woodman, Graham, Waterbury and Superintendent Keeler* On motion of Mr* Beaumont, the minutes of the previous meeting having teen, in the hands of the members, were approved without reading* On motion of Mr* Beaumont, President Snyder was appointed delegate to - the National Convention of the Commission of Church and Rural Life at * Columbus j Ohio, December 8th to 10th, without expense to the College* On motion of Mr* Woodman, Dr* G» D* Shafer was authorized to attend the meetings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Entomological Society of America, and the American Association of Economic En- tomologists at Columbus, Ohio, during the Christinas vacation* On motion of Mr* Doherty, the communication from the American Defense Society, presented by President Kedzie, was laid upon the table* ~ On motion of Mr* Beaumont, the matter of sending delegates to the American Association for the Advancement of Science was laid upon the table* On motion of Mr. Beaumont, Prof* Barrows was authorized to attend / the meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and affiliated societies during the Christmas vacation* ^ • On motion of Mr* Doherty, the recommendation of Dean Shaw that tfie salary authorized for an Experiment Station Assistant in Horticulture be increased from #1000.00 to #1200*00, was approved* . Gym.specifi- cations changed* The special committee on the gymnasium building reported changes in the specifications sufficient to reduce the contract, exclusive of heating, lighting and plumbing, to #150,000*00* Gym*contracjt awarded* On motion of Mr* Woodman, the contract for the erection of the gym- nasium was awarded to Chas* Hoerts & Son of Grand Rapids for #150,000*00* Gynulocation reconsidere-d* On motion of Mr* Woodman, the resolution passed at the September meet- ing by-".which the location of the gymnasium was established, was reconsidered* • I I l • AZRI • On motion of Mr* Woodman, the building was re-located so that is shall not be located farther north than was indicated by Mr* Qlmsted's plans,, and east and west exactly as placed by those plans• On motion of Mr, Doherty, the three bondsof the contractor, namely for the proper erection and completion of the building,-to insure payment for labor and material, and the guarantee bond covering defects in workmanship or material or both, are to be for not less than #2*5,OOCUOQ each. On motion of Mr. Doherty, the corner; stone of the gymnasium is to be laid on May 30th,-and Senator Roberts of Marquette is to be asked to lay it. Oh motion of Mr* Doherty, the Secretary was directed to execute a contract with Chas, Hoertz & Son in accordance with the conditions specified. On motion of Mr. Beaumont, -authority was given to excavate under the present Library so as to provide a basement for storage purposes. On motion of Mr. Doherty, the recommendation of Miss White and Prof. Ryder regarding the payment of Miss Harwell for work done during the Sunmer School, was approved. - The President presented a communication from the live Stock Sanitary Commission in reference to cooperation with the College in certain respects, which on motion of Mr. Woodman, was referred to the President with power to ac£. On motionof Mr. Woodman, the following recommendations of Prof. Patten, endorsed by Director Shaw, were approved* First, That Mr. Wells Sizer be employed as Inspector in the matter of Fertilizers and Commercial Feeding Stuffs at a salary of #500.00' for six months -from Jan. 1st, 1916. ~ • Second, That Mr. E. A. Smbll be appointed Assistant Chemist for six months from Jan. 1st, 1916, at a salary of $^50.00. "•«•*•* On motion of Mr. Waterbury, Mr. H. E.
