Mr. William Leighton appeared before the Board r e q u e s t i ng a s s i s t a n ce in b u i l d i ng a road on the e a st s i de of the o r i g i n al experiment s t a t i on farm at Chatham. On motion of Mr. Woodmafc, the f o l l o w i ng recommendation of D i r e c t or Baldwin approved by Dean Shaw, was concurred i n, namely, that Mr. Ezra Levin be employed as S p e c i a l i st in Muck Crop D i s e a s es and h is time to be d i v i d ed b e tween r e s e a r ch chargeable to Experiment S t a t i on S t a t e, and Extension under Smith-Lever funds. On motion of Mr. Graham, the recommendation of D i r e c t or Baldwin that h e r e a f t er t h e re be a committee in charge of Farmers Week, and t h at tne committee be composed of the f o l l o w i ng p e r s o n s, was approved: D i r e c t or Baldwin, Prof. E u s t a c e, P r o f. Anderson, Dean Shaw, Dr. McCool and Prof. T a f t. On motion of Mr. Doherty, the recommendation of D i r e c t or Baldwin that Mr. R. N. Kebler be appointed as A s s i s t a nt in Boys Club Work in the Upper Pen i n s u la at a salary of #1500.00 beginning July 1 s t, #900.00 to be paid by the C o l l e ge and $600.00 by the U. S. Department of A g r i c u l t u r e, was approved. On motion of Mr. V/oodman, D i r e c t or Baldwin was a u t h o r i z ed to employ an a s s i s t a nt in Potato and Vegetable e x t e n s i on work beginning July 1st at a s a l a ry not to exceed #1600.00 per annum. On motion of Mr. Graham., the President was given a u t h o r i ty to approve t he appointment of county agents f or Tuscola, Presque I s le and Wayne Counties p r e v i o us to the meeting of the Board in A p r i l, it being understood that t h e re be no expense to the C o l l e ge b e f o re July 1 s t. On motion of Mr. Doherty, t he recommendation of D i r e c t or Baldwin t h at Mr. H. L. Barnum be appointed County Agent for Missaukee County at a salary of #1700.00 beginning July 1 s t, #1200.00 to be paid by the C o l l e ge and the De partment of A g r i c u l t u r e, and #500.00 by the County, was approved.
