H* Pettit A* M* Brown Fire pro- t e c t i on 'matter* Authority to s e ll College land to Consumers Power Co* Chittenden & Sanford to attend meetings Chas*Brown resigns* In £e* pur* chase of more stock On motion of Mr. Beaumont, the matter of improved fire protection for the College was referred to the President and Secretary for report* On motion of Mr* Doherty, the Secretary was authorized to offer the following described lands to the Consumers Power Company at ten dollars per acre: The southeast quarter of the northwest quarter, and the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter, of section t h i r t y - t h r e e, township twenty-six north, of range five east* Mr* Beaumont and Mr* Woodman desire to be recorded as voting "No* on the above motion* On motim of Mr* Beaumont, the request of prof* Chittenden for permission for himself and Prof* Sanford to attend the annual meeting of the Society of American Foresters at Pittsburg, about December 28, with allowance for t r a n s- portation, was granted* The President presented the resignation of Research Assistant Charles w* Brown, to take effect January 1, 1918* On motion of Mr* Graham, the resig- nation of Mr* Brown, whose long and faithful service to the i n s t i t u t i on is deeply appreciated, was accepted, with regrets* The President presented a communication from Mr* R* S.* Hudson, Farm Superintendent, in relation to the sale of percheron horses and the purchase of additional atock, which, on motion of Mr* Woodman, was referred to the President and Secretary for report at the next meeting* The President presented a communication from prof* Musselinan, in reference In ££• gas engine & t r a c t or course* to a two weeks course in gas engines and t r a c t o r s, with request for an appro- priation to cover the expense. On motion of Mr* Graham, Mr* Musselinan was requested to take the matter up with the manufactures of t r a c t o r s, with a view to their furnishing free machines and men to teach their operation for a period of two weeks, the College to provide the students for this course with- out fee* On motion of Mr* Beaumont, the request of Prof* plant for permission for Plant & Emmons to attend meet! ings* - himself and Mr* Stamons to attend the meetings of the Mathematical Association of America, at Chicago, on December 27 and 26, and the American Mathematical Society on December 28 and 29* with allowance for transportation expenses, was approved* On motion of Mr* Woodman, the following recommendation of the Committee of Deans was adopted, viz: That the winter term close on Friday, March 15; that .AZRI r e g i s t r a t i on day for the spring term be Tuesday, March 26 > and that the Col- lege close on Friday, May 2^, cosmiencesient day being Monday, May 2?» .
